This is where I began—at a naval hospital in Charleston, South Carolina (which has seen better days since I was born there).

I started off as a screenwriter and playwright; my work includes the screenplay The Scouts, chosen as a top 50 screenplay at the Academy of Motion Picture’s Nicholl award 2021. I’ve also been a finalist at the Austin Film Festival, had screenplays optioned in Hollywood, and had plays performed in Boston and New York City. My work in fiction includes stories published in Vestal Review, Flash Fiction Magazine, Bridge Eight, and Carte Blanche, with a nomination for the Best Microfiction of 2023, and I was invited to the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop in 2024. Drafts of Small Town Echoes of Metallic Minds were shortlisted for the 2022 Masters Review Novel Excerpt Prize and longlisted forthe 2023 Bath Novel Award. My most recent work-in-progress, The End of Moving Pictures (retitled The Many Worlds of Carol A.), was also shortlisted for the Masters Review in 2025. I live in the Boston area with my wife and three children. My day job is working as a physician.
